Alabama Forestry Commission Employment Opportunities


 

FORESTER (Class 70429, starts at $33,086): These positions are located throughout the state. This is entry-level work in professional forest management. Work involves providing professional recommendations to forest landowners and promoting multiple-use forest management. Most foresters are also required to assist with wildfire suppression. These positions require a college degree in Forestry or a closely-related field. Foresters may be required to obtain a CDL during probation and pass an annual minimum physical fitness test. Employees are typically on call 24/7.

FOREST RANGER/TECHNICIAN (Class 70410, starts at $23,993): These positions are located throughout the state. Work involves assisting foresters with forest management, fire prevention, wildfire suppression, forest insect & disease control, as well as informational and educational programs. Heavy equipment experience is preferred. These positions require high school graduation or GED. Rangers will be required to obtain a CDL during probation and pass an annual minimum physical fitness test. Employees are typically on call 24/7.

POLICE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (Class 21121, starts at $25,570): Employees in these positions receive and transmit messages in a state-operated communications center located in Montgomery. Employees receive and dispatch messages using two-way radios, answer multiple incoming phone lines, complete various logs or reports, maintain locations of key personnel, and notify key personnel in emergency situations. The Dispatch Center is open 24/7 and operates on three shifts.
